Brainerd Economic Development Authority (EDA) is committed to helping businesses of all sizes feel at home in the economic center of the Brainerd Lakes area. The EDA is dedicated to enhancing Brainerd’s economic vitality and expanding tax base and employment opportunities within the city limits. The EDA is your first stop for business development assistance in Brainerd, including:

  • Site selection for large or small business
  • Business expansion and relocation financing resources
  • Referral source for business start-up assistance
  • Redevelopment assistance
  • Gap financing referrals
  • Economic development rates on utilities

Purpose

Advise City Council on economic development issues such as tax increment financing, revolving loan fund applications, business expansion and retention, downtown grant applications, and annexation.

7:30 a.m. Meets the 1st Thursday of Month Quarterly at Brainerd City Hall Council Chambers.

Committee Membership

The Commission is comprised of five members elected from the general public and two Councilmembers. Councilmembers term coincides with their term of office.

Qualifications to Serve

  • Must be a resident of the City of Brainerd or have an ownership interest in a business or other property within the City of Brainerd.
  • Background in economic development, banking and/or finance areas may be helpful.
  • Term length is 6 years.
  • No compensation; volunteer position.
